Confessions You Should Make To Your Dentist
When you visit the dentist, your main motivation should be to sort out any dental issues you may have. However, it seems to be human nature that patients keep a little secret or two when they are in the consultation room. This is an issue because some of these secrets are not easily identifiable by the dentist and you could leave feeling as bad as when you first visit. Here are common confessions that you should make to your dentist.
Gum Issues or Changes
When you see an issue with your gums that was previously missing, mention it to your dentist. A cosmetic dentist can make enhancements to shape and treat gums with lumps and sores. Gum issues can lead to further problems so it is essential you mention anything you notice to your dentist.
Persistent Bad Breath
When bad breath lasts for a month or more without an obvious reason, you should mention it immediately to your dentist. This does not necessarily mean you have a serious dental or internal problem but it is better to get this checked sooner rather than later.
Sensitive Teeth
Sensitive teeth are often caused by eroded enamel revealing the underlying dentin. Often this is a structural problem, like weak or thin enamel or can be from acid erosion caused by food and drink. Periodontal disease or receding gums are also factors that can cause sensitive teeth. The fact is tooth sensitivity is not immediately apparent to your dentist so you should tell them any problem areas you have.
Loose Teeth
If your teeth are loose when you are an adult there is a good chance you have periodontal disease. In a worst case scenario, all of your teeth could fall out but it is totally preventable. Tell your dentist immediately if you have loose teeth.
If you have any of these 4 signs, you should tell your dentist at your consultation. Don’t keep it a secret, your dentist is there to help you.
