For many people the most nerve-wracking part of a dental visit is the ‘needle’. If an area is numbed inexpertly or too quickly, a sharp stinging sensation can be felt. At Designer Dental Studio, we ensure we take the time to make local anaesthetic a comfortable experience
We ensure you experience is as painless as possible and completely comfortable at all times. Like all dental procedures, sedation has progressed significantly in the last few years an we have three kinds of sedation available at Designer Dental Studio, in addition to local anaesthetic:
Intravenous Sedation (IV)
IV sedation, also known as “twilight” sedation, does not result in a loss of consciousness. It is usually administered by a Dental Sedationist within a dental practice environment. There is a decreased risk of any complications while under sedation, compared to General Anaesthetic (loss of consciousness). Nausea as a result of IV sedation is rare.
As the name suggests, the drugs used to achieve sedation are given intravenously. The drug causes amnesia, so your memory of the dental appointment will be limited, if anything. You will require a friend, family member or partner to transport you home and care for you after your appointment.
