The deep, narrow grooves in the biting surfaces of your teeth provide a haven for bacteria. They are often impossible to clean with the bristles of your toothbrush and are generally the first place where decay will occur. Sometimes even our smallest instruments are too large to check these tiny grooves.
Diagnodent utilises a small laser to check the biting surfaces of your teeth for decay. The laser shines onto the tooth surface allowing the Diagnodent to identify weakened or decaying tooth structure. An exact reading is obtained for each tooth giving a far more accurate diagnosis compared to traditional methods.
If early decay is detected, the tooth can be protected with a fissure seal – a small, tooth coloured covering. This process will prevent you from needing a filling.
